Bees, Bridges, Bubbles

Sunday May 7, 2017
No far from our homebase in Boveč, we hiked to Slap (waterfall) Kozjak, a beautiful cascade tumbling into a green pool 50 feet below. Greeted by fields of wildflowers and bee hives, we are mesmerized by the hum. A little Slovenian girl brings me a flower, a red kayak contrasts with the blue water, and a couple relaxes by the river as we climb up to the hidden cavern.

Slap Boka, Slovenia's highest waterfall at 318 feet, can be seen from the road. The hike up just gets you higher but not that much closer - but good for a selfie.

Slovenians love suspension bridges! There are many crossing the Soča, worthy of a stop for a great view of the Alps and the amazingly blue river below. At the Grand Canyon of the Soča, the rivulets streaming into the canyon were beautiful, adding to river's gouging power.
