Piran, Slovenia

Wednesday, May 10-12, 2017
At the tip of the peninsula, Piran was named for the pyres that were lighted nightly to warn ships of land. We climbed up to the old fortifications for sunset over the town, and later were treated to some beautiful evening light in circular Tartini Square, once an extension of the old harbor. Our room overlooked the Adriatic, and basking in the sun with the lapping waves below, was heaven. Dinner at local Restaurant Neptun gave us a not only a great meal, but an fun evening of people watching.
