Vintgar Gorge

Thursday May 4, 2017
With steep, rocky walls on either side, Vintgar Gorge was cut by the Radovna River between the hills of Hom and Borst near Lake Bled. Twisted beech cling to the slopes and wildflowers spring from every crack. We weave our way through the gorge on suspended walkways along the canyon walls. The clear, green water rushes, falls, swirls and bubbles through the gorge with trout, visible from above, just waiting for a tasty morsel to float by. The limestone is responsible for the clarity and the amazing color of the river.
